RESUMO

Emerging from several decades of extensive research, key genetic elements and biochemical mechanisms implicated in neuroinflammation have been delineated, contributing substantially to our understanding of neurodegenerative diseases (NDDs). In this minireview, we discuss data predominantly from the past three years, highlighting the pivotal roles and mechanisms of the two principal cell types implicated in neuroinflammation. The review also underscores the extended process of peripheral inflammation that predates symptomatic onset, the critical influence of neuroinflammation, and their dynamic interplay in the pathogenesis of NDDs. Confronting these complex challenges, we introduce compelling evidence supporting the use of mesenchymal stem cell-based cell-free therapy. This therapeutic strategy includes the regulation of microglia and astrocytes, modulation of peripheral nerve cell inflammation, and targeted anti-inflammatory interventions specifically designed for NDDs, while also discussing engineering and safety considerations. This innovative therapeutic approach intricately modulates the immune system across the peripheral and nervous systems, with an emphasis on achieving superior penetration and targeted delivery. The insights offered by this review have significant implications for the better understanding and management of neuroinflammation.

BACKGROUND: Sex-related dissimilarities' influence on outcomes following thoracic aortic surgery is poorly understood. Our aim is to examine sex-related disparities in patients undergoing thoracic aortic aneurysm (TAA). METHODS: A total of 455 cases undergoing thoracic aortic aneurysm (TAA) surgery were consecutively enrolled between December 2009 and December 2015 in a Chinese hospital. Primary outcomes, including overall mortality and related risk factors, were evaluated. Cox regression is utilized to recognize the independent risk factor of these consequences. RESULTS: Females, compared to males, had greater indexed aortic diameters and higher aortic transvalvular pressure differences. For the location of aortic aneurysms, females had a higher rate of aortic arch involvement, while males had a higher rate of root involvement. Females underwent less frequent complex proximal aortic operations compared with males (29.5% versus 46.9%; p < 0.001). Women and men both had a lower rate of aortic transvalvular pressure difference and LV volume index 7 days after thoracic aortic surgery. The overall mortality for the women's groups (11%) was suggestively greater compared to 4.9% for the men's groups (p = 0.026). Renal failure and aortic arch involvement were the main risk factors associated with males' survival, while maximum indexed aortic diameter and cross-clamp time were the risk factors associated with females' survival. CONCLUSIONS: The outcome after TAA surgery was less favorable in women with significantly increased overall mortality. It highlights the need to focus on implementing personalized surgery strategies and gender-specific guidelines in treating female patients following TAA surgery.

The tricuspid valve is known as "the forgotten valve". Tricuspid regurgitation (TR) is a highly prevalent valvular heart disease. TR is often late in the course of the disease when it becomes symptomatic, often being a marker of late-stage chronic heart failure with a poor prognosis and high mortality rate at long-term follow-up. Despite the clear correlation between TR and mortality, most TR patients are under-treated. Neither pharmacologic nor surgical treatment demonstrates a significant survival benefit. Isolated tricuspid valve surgery has the highest mortality rate of all valve surgeries. Therefore, there is an urgent clinical need for minimally invasive therapies to meet the needs of patients with TR. In recent years, a variety of transcatheter tricuspid valve interventions representing less invasive alternatives to surgery have shown promising results, which bring hope to patients with severe TR. The purpose of this review is to provide a complete and updated overview on current transcatheter tricuspid valve interventions and clinical evidence.

The connectivity and permeability of the coal seam pore structures control the occurrence and migration of coalbed methane. Coal samples were used from Huainan-Huaibei to reconstruct three-dimensional models of the pores and an equivalent pore network model, Statistical pore structure characteristic parameters. The pore structure of the coal reservoir was analyzed from the direction of multidimensional and multiangle. It shows that based on quantitative analysis, the representative Elementary volume of 500 × 500 × 500 was the most suitable experimental volume. The Y-axis direction of the Renlou sample had poor pore connectivity compared to that of other samples. Large volume connected pores dominated their pore systems. In terms of coal sample pore connectivity, the coal samples from the Liuzhuang and Qidong regions had pore connectivity better than those from the other regions. The pore connectivity of the Liuzhuang coal samples was the best. In terms of coal permeability, the Liuzhuang sample had better permeability than the other three samples, and the permeability was the best in the Y-axis direction. For all the combinations of the different types of throats, the shorter the throat, the greater the equivalent radius and the better the permeability. Conversely, the worse the permeability. During gas injection production, the closer the gas injection area was to the gas injection well, the poorer the connectivity and the lower the permeability over time. Near the production area, where the CO2 did not reach the production area, the fracture porosity and effective connected porosity of the coal reservoir increased over time. When CO2 reached the production area, the change in its connected pore structure was consistent with the change in the connected pores in the gas injection area. With this study, the coal seam pore structure on a microscale was characterized. A comprehensive analysis of the coal reservoir pore connectivity and permeability was completed. The study results are significant for the exploration and development of coalbed methane in the Huainan-Huaibei coalfield.

The compressive performance of organic fiber has always been a key problem, limiting its development. In this paper, silicon oxide, alumina, and titanium oxide particles were separately deposited on the surface of high-strength and high-modulus polyimide (PI) fibers to form a structural supporting shell by using a magnetron sputtering method. The theoretical thickness was calculated by thermogravimetric analysis in good agreement with the actual thickness determined from scanning electron microscopy. The mechanics, surface, and interface properties of the measured fibers were analyzed mainly from the aspects of surface energy, interfacial shear strength (IFSS), and compression strength. The results showed that after magnetron sputtering, the inorganic shells were uniformly deposited on the surface of PI fiber, resulting in an increase in the content of inorganic elements as well as the roughness. As a result, the surface energy and IFSS of silica-coated fiber was increased by 174 and 85.6%, respectively, and compression strength was increased by 45.7%. This study provides a new approach for improving the interface property and compression strength of high-strength and high-modulus PI-fiber-reinforced composites.

Optical vortices with spin and orbital angular momentum (SAM and OAM) states offer multiple degrees of freedom for manipulating optical fields and thus enable great potentials in optical information processing. Recently, the optical metasurface has become an important platform for vortex beam generation and steering. However, the strong spin-orbit interaction on such metasurfaces usually leads to spin locked OAM generation, which limits the complete control of the angular momentum state of light. Here, we propose to solve this constraint using geometric phase controlled nonlinear chiroptical metasurfaces. The metasurface consists of two types of plasmonic meta-atoms which have opposite handedness and exhibit a strong spin-dependent circular dichroism effect. By encoding specific phase singularities and phase gradients to different channels, we experimentally demonstrate the spin unlocked second harmonic beam steering. The proposed nonlinear chiroptical metasurfaces may have important applications in developing multifunctional nonlinear optical devices.

Coxsackievirus B3 (CVB3) is the pathogen causing hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD), which manifests across a spectrum of clinical severity from mild to severe. However, CVB3-infected mouse models mainly demonstrate viral myocarditis and pancreatitis, failing to replicate human HFMD symptoms. Although several enteroviruses have been evaluated in Syrian hamsters and rhesus monkeys, there is no comprehensive data on CVB3. In this study, we have first tested the susceptibility of Syrian hamsters to CVB3 infection via different routes. The results showed that Syrian hamsters were successfully infected with CVB3 by intraperitoneal injection or nasal drip, leading to nasopharyngeal colonization, acute severe pathological injury, and typical HFMD symptoms. Notably, the nasal drip group exhibited a longer viral excretion cycle and more severe pathological damage. In the subsequent study, rhesus monkeys infected with CVB3 through nasal drips also presented signs of HFMD symptoms, viral excretion, serum antibody conversion, viral nucleic acids and antigens, and the specific organ damages, particularly in the heart. Surprisingly, there were no significant differences in myocardial enzyme levels, and the clinical symptoms resembled those often associated with common, mild infections. In summary, the study successfully developed severe Syrian hamsters and mild rhesus monkey models for CVB3-induced HFMD. These models could serve as a basis for understanding the disease pathogenesis, conducting pre-trial prevention and evaluation, and implementing post-exposure intervention.

BACKGROUND: The High Mobility Group Nucleosomal Binding Domain 1 Gene (HMGN1) is crucial for epigenetic regulation. However, the specific function of HMGN1 in cancer development is unclear. METHODS: Raw data on HMGN1 expression were procured from Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx), the University of Alabama- Birmingham CANcer data analysis Portal (UALCAN), and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). Thereafter, the pan-cancer analysis was implemented to understand the HMGN1 expression patterns, prognostic value, and immunological features. Furthermore, the Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) was executed via R language. In addition, the relationship between HMGN1 and the sensitivity of antitumor drugs was also determined. Finally, real-time PCR (RT-PCR) experiments were carried out. RESULTS: Pan-cancer analysis revealed that HMGN1 was upregulated in several solid tumors and was associated with pathological staging and poor prognosis. In addition, HMGN1 was found to be involved in regulating the tumor microenvironment. The GSEA enrichment analysis indicated that HMGN1 assisted in the regulation of oncogenic processes, especially metabolic and immune pathways. Furthermore, HMGN1 expression was linked to microsatellite instability (MSI) and tumor mutational burden (TMB) across diverse tumor types. RT-PCR assays indicated that HMGN1 was overexpressed in the gastric and breast cancer cell lines and tissues. CONCLUSION: This study highlighted the potential of HMGN1 as a biomarker for pan- - cancer analysis.

Investigating the coal adsorption behavior on supercritical CO2 (ScCO2) is crucial for long-term CO2 geological storage. In this paper, low-permeability coal samples from the Huainan-Huaibei coalfields in China were selected. The high-pressure isothermal adsorption of CO2 was carried out at 36, 42, and 48 °C. The results of adsorption experiments were analyzed by fitting 9 types of modified adsorption models, including three different adsorption theories. Considering that different adsorption mechanisms may exist for CO2 in coal, 14 mixed adsorption models were established. The accuracy of the coefficient of determination (R2) and root-mean-square error (RMSE) for ScCO2 excess adsorption capacity was analyzed, mainly focusing on the accuracy of the key model parameters such as the adsorption phase density and the theoretical adsorption capacity. These parameters were discussed, combined with the predicted adsorption phase density of CO2 based on the intercept method. The results indicate that among the 9 types of modified adsorption considered, based on the adsorption phase density screening, the deviation of the predicted adsorption capacity from the experimental value was then considered. The Dubinin-Radushkevich (DR) model can effectively fit the adsorption behavior of CO2 at low pressure (<7.5 MPa). The Langmuir (L), Langmuir-Freundlich (LF), Extended-Langmuir (EL), and TOTH models can effectively fit the adsorption behavior of CO2 at high pressure (7.5-20 MPa), while the multimolecular layer models were unsuitable for fitting ScCO2 adsorption. The model fitting results showed that only the monomolecular layer and micropore-filled adsorption models were suitable for fitting the ScCO2 adsorption capacity. The DR-LF model best fits the adsorption data based on its key parameters of adsorption phase density and theoretical adsorption capacity. The established mixed model DR-LF fitting results showed that the CO2 in coal was dominated by microporous filling adsorption. The higher the temperature, the greater the contribution of microporous filling adsorption to the total adsorption. There still exists deviation in the adsorption phase density and theoretical adsorption capacity. The contribution percentage of different adsorption mechanisms of CO2 in coal needs to be further investigated.

BACKGROUND: Sialylation, the process of salivary acid glycan synthesis, plays a pivotal function in tumor growth, immune escape, tumor metastasis, and resistance to drugs. However, the association between sialylation and prognosis, tumor microenvironment (TME), and treatment response in a variety of cancers remains unclear. METHODS: A comprehensive survey of the expression profile, prognostic value, and genetic and epigenetic alterations of sialylation-related genes was performed in pan-cancer. Subsequently, the single-sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA) algorithm was used to compute sialylation pathway scores in pan-cancer. Correlations of sialylation pathway scores with clinical features, prognosis, and TME were evaluated using multiple algorithms. Finally, the efficacy of the sialylation pathway score in determining the effect of immunotherapy was evaluated. The expression of sialylation-related genes were verified by RNA-sequencing. RESULTS: Significant differences were observed in sialylation-related genes expression between tumors and adjacent normal tissues for most cancer types. Sialylation pathway scores differed according to the type of tumor, where the poor prognosis was correlated with high sialylation pathway scores in uveal melanoma (UVM) and pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PAAD). In addition, sialylation pathway scores were positively associated with the ImmuneScore, StromalScore and immune-related pathways. Moreover, the level of immune cells infiltration was higher in tumors with higher sialylation pathway scores. Finally, patients with high sialylation pathway scores were more sensitive to immunotherapy. CONCLUSION: Sialylation-related genes are essential in pan-cancer. The sialylation pathway score may be used as a biomarker in oncology patients.

Developing polyoxometalate-cyclodextrin cluster-organic supramolecular framework (POM-CD-COSF) still remains challenging due to an extremely difficult task in rationally interconnecting two dissimilar building blocks. Here we report an unprecedented POM-CD-COSF crystalline structure produced through the self-assembly process of a Krebs-type POM, [Zn2 (WO2 )2 (SbW9 O33 )2 ]10- , and two ß-CD units. The as-prepared POM-CD-COSF-based battery separator can be applied as a lightweight barrier (approximately 0.3 mg cm-2 ) to mitigate the polysulfide shuttle effect in lithium-sulfur batteries. The designed Li-S batteries equipped with the POM-CD-COSF modified separator exhibit remarkable electrochemical performance, attributed to fast Li+ diffusion through the supramolecular channel of ß-CD, efficient polysulfide-capture ability by the dynamic host-guest interaction of ß-CD, and improved sulfur redox kinetics by the bidirectional catalysis of POM cluster. This research provides a broad perspective for the development of multifunctional supramolecular POM frameworks and their applications in Li-S batteries.

BACKGROUND: The study aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of preoperative systemic inflammation response index (SIRI) for acute type A aortic dissection (ATAD) following open surgery. METHODS AND RESULTS: Totally, 410 ATAD patients underwent open surgery from 2019 to 2021 were enrolled in the study. Among the patients, the in-hospital mortality was 14.4%. Cox regression (95%CI 1.033-1.114p < 0.001) and receiver operating characteristic curve analysis (AUC = 0.718, p < 0.001) demonstrated the prognostic role of SIRI for in-hospital mortality after surgery. The optimal cut-off value of SIRI for in-hospital mortality was identified as 9.43 by maximally selected Log-Rank statistics. The patients were divided into high SIRI group (SIRI ≥ 9.43) and low SIRI group (SIRI < 9.43)) after the linear inverse relationship between SIRI and hazard ratio for in-hospital mortality was demonstrated by restricted cubic spline analysis (p = 0.0742). The Kaplan-Meier analysis illustrated that in-hospital mortality increased significantly in high SIRI group (p < 0.001). In addition, elevating SIRI was significantly associated with the incidence of coronary sinus tear (95%CI 1.020-4.475p = 0.044). Furthermore, the incidence rate of postoperative complications including renal failure (p < 0.001) and infection (p = 0.019) was higher in high SIRI group. CONCLUSION: The study indicated that preoperative SIRI could provide strong prognostic value for in-hospital mortality in ATAD patients following open surgery. Thus, SIRI was a promising biomarker for risk stratification and management prior to open surgery.

Background: Rhesus macaques and humans are closely related genetically and share similar physiological and pathological characteristics. Exploring the impact of diet on the early establishment of gut microbiota in non-human primates can provide relevant clinical models for healthy infant growth and development. At present, few writers have focused on the composition and changes of the intestinal microbes of infant rhesus macaques throughout their progression from birth to formula feeding after weaning. In this study, we used 16S rRNA sequencing technology to explore the composition of the intestinal flora of rhesus macaques at different ages and analyzed the trends in the microbial changes. Results: The results showed that the relative abundance of Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus in the intestinal flora of infant rhesus macaques significantly decreased, and Prevotella increased with age. Bifidobacterium longum and Bifidobacterium breve are effective biomarkers to predict grouping. The metabolic pathways enriched in early life mainly concentrated in glycosphingolipid biosynthesis (lacto and neolacto series) and the degradation and metabolism of alcohols and esters. Conclusions: We found that age was an important factor that affected the changes in the intestinal flora. This study revealed the change trend of flora in breastfed and formula-fed infant rhesus monkeys in different growth months, and found that the dominant flora changed greatly. This research provides a medically relevant theoretical basis for understanding the healthy development of infants.

The high mortality rate of patients with diabetic foot ulcers is urging the appearance of an effective biomedical drug. Senescence is one of the major reasons of aging-induced decline in the diabetic wound. Our previous studies have demonstrated the anti-senescence effect of secretomes derived from human fetal mesenchymal stem cells (hfMSC). The present study tends to explore the potential role of hfMSC secretome (HFS) in wound healing through anti-aging. Meanwhile, we try to overcome several obstacles in the clinical application of stem cell secretome. A verticle bioreactor and microcarriers are employed to expand hfMSC and produce the HFS on a large scale. The HFS was then subjected to lyophilization (L-HFS). The PLGA (poly lactic-co-glycolic acid) particles were used to encapsulate and protect L-HFS from degradation in the streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic rat model. Results showed that HFS-PLGA significantly enhanced wound healing by promoting vascularization and inhibiting inflammation in the skin wound bed. We further analyzed the contents of HFS. Isobaric tag for relative and absolute quantitation (ITRAQ) and label-free methods were used to identify peptides in the secretome. Bioinformatics analysis indicated that exosome production-related singling pathways and heat-shock protein family could be used as bio-functional markers and quality control for stem cell secretome production.

BACKGROUND: Aortic arch replacement(TAR) combined with frozen elephant trunk (FET) technique is a high-risk operation after previous cardiovascular surgery. The aim of the study was to review our strategy and outcomes in this cohort. METHOD: Data were reviewed for patients who underwent TAR combined with FET after previous cardiovascular surgery from January 2010 to December 2020. The patients were divided into elective group and non-selective group. RESULTS: 63 eligible patients were divided into elective(n = 44) and non-elective(n = 19) groups. The interval between two operations was shorter in non-elective group than elective groups (P = 0.001). The indication for reoperation was different in two groups (P = 0.000), however, the type of reoperations has no differences. Cardiopulmonary bypass time was shorter in elective group than non-elective group (P = 0.000). The over-all 30-day mortality rate was 17.5%, and it was higher in non-elective group (P = 0.013). The 24h drainage increased in non-elective group (P = 0.001) as well as re-explore rate for bleeding (P = 0.022). Postoperative hospital stay prolonged in non-elective group (P = 0.002). However, rates of survival without further aortic events were 72.3 ± 7.1% in elective group, 72.9 ± 13.5% in non-elective group at 5 years, respectively (P = 0. 955). CONCLUSION: Reduced 30-day mortality and shortened post-operative hospital stay was observed in elective group, however, long-term survival rate without reintervention were not affected.

In this work, the thermal behavior, soft magnetic properties, and structure of Fe86-xP11C2B1Wx (x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1, 2, and 4) amorphous alloys were researched by several experimental methods and ab initio molecular dynamics. The addition of W improved the thermal stability of the alloy system when the first onset crystallization temperature (Tx1) increased from 655 K to 711 K, significantly reduced the coercivity Hc, and decreased the saturation magnetization Bs. The Fe85.6P11C2B1W0.4 alloy showed optimal soft magnetic performance, with low Hc of 1.4 A/m and relatively good Bs of 1.52 T. The simulation results suggested that W atoms increased the distance of the neighboring Fe-Fe pair, reduced the coordination number, narrowed the gap between the spin-up and spin-down electrons of each atom, and decreased the average magnetic moment of the Fe atoms. This work demonstrates a micro-alloying strategy to greatly reduce Hc while maintaining high Bs.

BACKGROUND: Exosomes are small vesicles released by cells, which have crucial functions in intercellular communication. Exosomes originated from cell membrane invagination and are released followed by multivesicular bodies (MVBs) fused with the cell membrane. It is known that Polymerase I and Transcript Release Factor (PTRF, also known as Caveolin-associated Protein-1, CAVIN1) plays an important role in caveolae formation and exosome secretion. And PTRF in exosomes has been identified as a potential biomarker in multiple malignancies such as glioma and renal cell carcinoma. However, the mechanisms of how to regulate the secretion of exosome-related PTRF remain unknown. METHODS: We performed exogenous and endogenous immunoprecipitation assays to investigate the interaction between ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2O (UBE2O) and PTRF. We identified UBE2O ubiquitinated PTRF using ubiquitination assays. Then, exosomes were isolated by ultracentrifugation and identified by transmission electronic microscopy, western blot and nanoparticle tracking analysis. The effect of UBE2O on the secretion of exosome-related PTRF was analyzed by western blot, and the effect of UBE2O on exosome secretion was evaluated by exosome markers and the total protein content of exosomes. RESULTS: Here, we showed that UBE2O interacts with PTRF directly and ubiquitinates PTRF. Functionally, we found that UBE2O inhibited the effects of PTRF on exosome secretion via decreasing caveolae formation. Importantly, UBE2O decreased exosome secretion, resulting in downregulating PTRF secretion via exosomes. Our study also identified Serum Deprivation Protein Response (SDPR, also known as Caveolin-associated Protein-2, CAVIN2) interacted with both UBE2O and PTRF. Furthermore, we found that SDPR promotes PTRF expression in exosomes. Interestingly, even in the presence of SDPR, UBE2O still inhibited the secretion of exosome-related PTRF. CONCLUSIONS: Our study demonstrated that UBE2O downregulated exosome release and controlled the secretion of exosome-related PTRF through ubiquitinating PTRF. Since exosomes play an important role in malignant tumor growth and PTRF included in exosomes is a biomarker for several malignant tumors, increasing UBE2O expression in cells has the potential to be developed as a novel approach for cancer treatment. To explore the relationship between the changes in the physiological period and the fecal microbial population of female rhesus monkeys by measuring microbial composition of fecal samples and the serum hormones. Blood and fecal samples were collected from six female adult rhesus monkeys during the menstrual period (MP), ovulation period (OP), and Luteal period (LP). Serum estradiol (E2) and progesterone (P) levels were determined by the chemiluminescence method and the stool samples were subjected to high-throughput 16S rRNA sequencing. The highest level of E2 and P secretions were during the MP, and LP, respectively. Stool samples produced valid sequences and the number of operational taxonomic unit/OTU was: 810056/3756 (MP), 845242/4159 (OP), 881560/3970 (LP). At the phylum level, the three groups of Firmicutes and Bacteroides accounted for > 95%. The dominant flora at the LP was Bacteroides (53.85%), the dominant flora at the MP and OP was Firmicutes, 64.08 and 56.53%, respectively. At the genus level, the dominant genus at the LP was Prevotella, the dominant genera at the MP were Prevotella, Oncococcus, Streptococcus, and Kurtella. The dominant genera at OP were Prevotella and Nocococcus. At the phylum level, P levels were negatively correlated to Firmicutes, Actinomycetes Actinobacteria, and Fibrobacteres, but positively correlated to Bacteroidetes. Likewise, E2 was positively correlated to Proteobacteria but negatively correlated to Euryarchaeota. At the genus level, P hormone showed a significant correlation with 16 bacterial species, and E2 was significantly correlated to seven bacterial species. Function prediction analysis revealed a high similarity between the MP and OP with six differentially functional genes (DFGs) between them and 11 DFGs between OP and LP (P < 0.05). Fecal microbiota types of female rhesus monkeys varied with different stages of the menstrual cycle, possibly related to changes in hormone levels.

BACKGROUND: After proximal aortic surgery, total arch replacement (TAR) may again be needed because of recurrent dissection or aneurysm. This paper analyzed the relevant data of this technology with hopes of improving cognition and treatment. METHODS: There were a total of 60 eligible cases of secondary TAR after proximal aortic surgery in our center from 2010 to 2020. The primary surgical procedures included aortic valve replacement (AVR), ascending aortic replacement, Bentall, hemi-arch replacement, and thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR). The data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS Statistics 23.0 for Windows™ and presented as the mean ± standard deviations and direct frequencies, as appropriate. RESULTS: The interval between two operations was 44.8±53.6 months, 24 cases (40%) underwent emergency operation, the recurrence of type A dissection included 51 cases, accounting for 85% of the causes of total arch re-replacement. In the second surgical procedures, the ascending + TAR + stented elephant trunk (SET) implantation accounted for 75.0%. The overall surgical success rate was 98.3%. Postoperative respiratory complications were the most common, including infection, pneumothorax and hemothorax in 21 cases (35.6%). The second most common complication was acute kidney injury (AKI) in six cases (10.2%), and neurological complications took place in three cases (5.1%). The 30-day mortality rate was 15.3% and the 1-, 3- and 5-year survival rates were 96.0%, 84.0%, and 76.0%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: The recurrence of dissection is the main cause of TAR after proximal aortic surgery, followed by aneurysm and the resurgical criteria for aneurysm needs to be unified. In addition to TAR, SET also is widely used. Despite high early mortality, its long-term prognosis is acceptable.
